Hey La Bas! Where ya at?! This is Eric Aubry. I am the Author. I am the 7th child of 11, born on the 7th day, at Queen of the Angels Hospital; of Creole and Native, Choctaw Indian descent. Being that my parents are from the 7th Ward of New Orleans LA, that’s where my Heritage and back ground is from. So, from my Father and maternal Grandmother, I learned a lot about who I was, and where I came from; the Culture, History, and Language of the City of New Orleans.
I grew up on the West side of Los Angeles – Crenshaw & Adams; went to an all Boys Catholic High School, and at 2:15 I would hightail it up to the all Girls Catholic High School, where I made friends with other guys that came from other schools, as we all waited (at the record store, or a lot of times across the street at the laundromat! or at the taco stand) for the girls school to be let out.
At 15 I was driving, and became a Low Rider, and ran the streets of LA. I learned the Streets, the Hustle and the Language, and Partied Hardy with over 100 of my new friends and classmates.
I also learned a lot from my uncle’s barbershop where they talked politics, women, and cooked New Orleans food. They planned parties, and in the tradition of folks from New Orleans, they celebrated every Holiday and even more. They also had a drink or two and played many games of poker that I sat in on; and as time went on, I became a professional gambler.
As a teenager, a young man, and as an adult, believe me when I say that I have experienced things that the average person won’t or hasn’t or couldn’t even think about going through the things that I have done.
